Decanonized content is any species, landmark, or event which was once canon to Sagan 4 but has since been removed. Due to the highly interconnected nature of Sagan 4, decanonized content is extremely rare and not done except in extreme situations or where it's caught early enough to be feasible, but it has happened a few times.

Decanonized content is not to be confused with ordinary retcons, where details are changed retroactively rather than made to have never happened at all.

Graveyard

This section is for any species removed from continuity. A species is removed if the original creator deems the species to be erroneous or implausible. Ordinarily, deletion logs would hold references to decanonized species, but all deletion logs were lost when the Sagan 4 wiki was imported to Miraheze. As a result, all currently known decanonized content either came about after the import or is only known from memories.

Southern Crymaid

Image of Southern Crymaid

The Southern Crymaid was a descendant of the crymaid where the creator, Clayren, had mistaken the tusk for a beak.

This species was originally only known from memories, as it predated the import, but proof of its existence in the form of its original artwork was later found to have been archived.

Needlehead

The Needlehead was removed from continuity by its creator Nergali after it was determined that the species was unrealistically made multicellular. The Arrowheads were adjusted to be a descendant of the close relative, the Armororm, and the Needlehead was replaced with a rewrite of the Arrowhead. The previous entry named Arrowhead was renamed as the Sunlight Arrowhead and made a direct descendant.

Tummorsuses

The Tummorsuses genus group was removed from canon by Disgustedorite after she judged it to be completely implausible, the main points against it being motility out of nowhere and the implausible "digestive fold". As the genus had almost no ecological significance and was never eaten by anything, its slot was replaced by a completely unrelated species, the tambuck.

Other Decanonized Content

  • Tribal Game: A failed attempt at having a "tribal stage" of Sagan 4, starring the Sagon.
